Steinway & Sons was founded in
1853 in New York, and its subsidiary company and factory in Hamburg were established in 1880. Since then the Steinway & Sons has become the most famous piano producer in the world, and it has been generally recognized as the pioneer of the modern piano production. In almost 150 years of its brilliant history, there were over 90% of the famous pianists in the world who played only Steinway pianos for concerts. At present you can find Steinway pianos for pianists in over 2000 concert halls in the world. The rate of using Steinway pianos in concerts of the second Millennium is as high as 99%. In all of over the world, including in China, many musical colleges and schools, ordinary colleges and universities, art centers, grand theaters and concert halls are proud of having Steinway pianos. Steinway has become the symbol of the highest realm for pianos. The German Steinway Company opened its representative office in Beijing in 1999, for its affairs in China. In a short time of 3 years with endeavor and works through 5 regional agent offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Steinway have successfully held the market of pianos for high level performance, in the whole region of China.
